After a few days off, the Boston Bruins (7-7-0) are on Long Island for a Tuesday night matchup with the New York Islanders (6-5-1). The Bruins have found their stride. They are on a three-game winning streak, with those three wins coming on home ice, and it all started against the Islanders last Tuesday. However, the Bruins are a different team away from home, and they are set on improving their 1-4-0 road record on Long Island on Tuesday.
The Bruins skated on Monday at the Warrior Ice Arena in Brighton, MA. The line combinations remained the same as those used in Saturday’s matinee victory, and Marco Sturm confirmed that the Bruins will be using the same combinations. This means Jonathan Aspirot is in the lineup, and Mason Lohrei will be scratched for the fourth straight game. Ahead of Tuesday’s game, the Bruins held an optional morning skate at 11 a.m. at the UBS Arena on Long Island.
The Boston Bruins will be without Elias Lindholm, who suffered an injury after making contact with Buffalo Sabres forward Jordan Greenway. When meeting with the media on Monday, Marco Sturm confirmed that Elias Lindholm would be week-to-week with an injury that the Bruins anticipated: “what we thought had happened showed on the MRI, obviously I can’t tell you what it is exactly.” In Lindholm’s spot slides Marat Khusnutdinov, who played in the spot in relief of Lindholm on Thursday and again on Saturday.
After struggling to find the back of the net through the first nine games, Viktor Arvidsson has three goals in the last five games. Marco Sturm has praised the second line of Arvidsson, Casey Mittelstadt, and Pavel Zacha, and he is not shy about playing them against the opposition’s top line. Mark Kastelic moved to the third line on Saturday and had four shots, a blocked shot, and a hit in the 2-1 win; he will remain on a line with Tanner Jeannot and Fraser Minten. Johnny Beecher is in the lineup again, with Sean Kuraly and Mikey Eyssimont on the fourth line.
As Jim McBride of the Boston Globe reported, Jeremy Swayman will start in goal for the Bruins on Long Island. It will be his 199th career game for the Boston Bruins. Swayman made 28 of 29 stops during the Bruins’ 2-1 win over Carolina on Saturday. Per Islanders coach Patrick Roy, Ilya Sorokin will get the start for the Islanders. He has not had the anticipated start the Islanders were looking for, falling below a .500 record through eight games. Sorokin made 17 saves on 21 shots in last week’s game at the TD Garden.
The Bruins are looking to make it four in a row tonight, which would be their longest win streak of the still-early 2025-26 campaign. They will play the Islanders for the second time in a week, with puck drop set for just after 7:00 PM on the Island. The game will be televised on NESN.
