The Boston Bruins are continuing their homestand, and playing the second game on their back-to-back weekend, as the Pittsburgh Penguins are in town. As the Bruins head into the first of three matchups with their Black and Gold counterpart, it was announced that defenseman Jonathan Aspirot signed a two-year, $887,500 contract extension earlier today.

The Bruins come into today’s tilt fresh off a 10-2 victory over the New York Rangers yesterday, a Bruins’ goal total unseen since 1988. Pittsburgh also played yesterday, as they hosted the Calgary Flames and lost by a tight one-goal margin, falling to the Flames 2-1.

Lineup

It’s likely that the Bruins are going to roll with the same lines we saw yesterday. Elias Lindholm and Morgan Geekie are both game-time decisions, as Geekie exited yesterday’s game to attend to a family emergency, and Lindholm exited due to an injury, but per head coach Marco Sturm, it was just precautionary. He also commented, saying everything with Geekie was “all good.”

Swayman started last night, and through there hasn’t been an announcement as to who’ll get the net, it’s likely that Joonas Korpisalo will start. He had a stellar performance Thursday night against the Flames, stopping 27 of 29 shots and coming up with a number of big saves.

Highlights

Yesterday’s victory saw no shortage of highlights and milestones for several Bruins. Marat Khusnutdinov and Pavel Zacha both recorded their first career hat-trick, with Khusnutdinov tallying four total goals in yesterday’s tilt. David Pastrnak tied Bobby Orr and Ken Hodge for the most assists in one game, adding a helper to six of Boston’s 10 goals.

There are currently seven Bruins on point streaks: Viktor Arvidsson (1-3-4 in three games), Marat Khusnutdinov (4-3-7 in three games), Elias Lindholm (3-4-7 in five games), Charlie McAvoy (1-5-6 in five games), David Pastrnak (4-10-14 in five games), and Pavel Zacha (3-2-5 in three games).

While tied a franchise record for assists yesterday, that wasn’t the only milestone for David Pastrnak. In recording his 888th point, he tied Bobby Orr for seventh place on the Bruins’ all-time points list.
