The Providence Bruins have two games remaining in their 2025-26 American Hockey League season against the Utica Comets, with a back-to-back starting tomorrow night at Adirondack Bank Center. However, before Providence plays its final two games of the season, the team made two big roster moves.
Earlier today, Providence general manager Evan Gold announced that the team recalled 20-year-old defenseman Loke Johansson from the ECHL’s Maine Mariners and signed 27-year-old Mariners forward Max Andreev to a professional tryout.
Johansson was drafted 186th overall by the Boston Bruins at the 2024 National Hockey League Draft. Johansson has spent the majority of this season with the Mariners, recording four points and a +3 rating in 36 games played. Johansson played in 12 AHL games this season with Providence, but recorded zero points. Johansson hasn’t played an AHL game since Dec. 20. Johansson’s time in the ECHL since then has given him new confidence and improved his game.
Andreev hasn’t played an AHL game since he was with the Coachella Valley Thunderbirds on Jan. 27, 2024. This season is Andreev’s first with the Mariners. Andreev has spent the entire season with the Mariners, but has played tremendously.
Andreev’s 62 points are tied for the most on the Mariners’ roster, and his 43 assists lead the team. Andreev’s ten power play goals are also tied for the most on the Mariners’ roster. Over his last four games, Andreev has been on a tear, recording eight points. In his last ECHL game this past Sunday, Andreev scored an incredible spinning backhand goal against Norfolk Admirals goaltender Isaac Poulter.
