After a historic 2025-26 regular season, the Providence Bruins have seen their roster get shaken up, and it will be a different look for the upcoming 2026-27 American Hockey League season. Providence has seen additions and subtractions to its roster. Now, Providence has made some recent additions to its roster. Today, Providence signed forwards Nolan Renwick and Wyatt Bongiovanni, and defensemen Chris Ortiz and Max Wanner. All four players each signed a one-year AHL contract.
Renwick, 25, has yet to play in the National Hockey League. Renwick played college hockey at the University of Maine and served as an alternate captain for two seasons. Since the 2024-25 season, Renwick played 47 AHL games for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, but recorded just seven points. This past season, Renwick played in the 2026 ECHL Playoffs for the Wheeling Nailers and recorded six points in 17 games, including a goal in Game 6 of the second-round series against the Maine Mariners.
Bongiovanni, 26, has no NHL experience. Since the 2021-22 season, Bongiovanni has played in the AHL for three different teams: Manitoba Moose, Belleville Senators, and Hershey Bears. Bongiovanni has recorded 106 points in 226 career AHL games. Bongiovanni spent the 2025-26 season with Belleville and Hershey and recorded 30 points combined. Bongiovanni broke out in the 2024-25 season when his 22 goals were tied for the most on Belleville’s roster.
Ortiz, 25, hasn’t played in an NHL game. Since the 2021-22 season, Ortiz has bounced around, playing in both the AHL and ECHL, including a short stint with Providence. During the 2024-25 season, Ortiz recorded seven assists in 23 regular-season games, then recorded one assist in eight games during the 2025 AHL Playoffs. In the 2025-26 season, Ortiz recorded one assist in 24 games in the AHL with the Hartford Wolf Pack, and also recorded 12 points in 20 games in the ECHL with the Bloomington Bison. In his AHL career, Ortiz has recorded 13 points in 73 combined games as a member of Wilkes-Barre, Providence, and Hartford, with just one goal. Meanwhile, Ortiz has recorded 158 points in 232 career ECHL games. Ortiz has played for Bloomington, Wheeling, and the Trois-Rivieres Lions in his ECHL career.
Wanner, 23, was drafted 212th overall in the 2021 NHL Draft by the Edmonton Oilers, but hasn’t played in an NHL game. Since the 2023-24 season, Wanner has been an AHL mainstay as a member of the Bakersfield Condors and Providence. Wanner has recorded 25 points with a +26 rating in 134 AHL games. Wanner has played for Providence over the past two seasons. In the 2025-26 season, Wanner recorded three points in 29 games for Providence. Wanner played in all four games for Providence during the 2026 AHL Playoffs but recorded no points and finished with a -2 rating. Wanner also played in three games for the Mariners during the season, all in January 2026, and scored one goal in his short stint.
