From 2022 to 2025, defenseman Jaxon Bellamy played well for St. Mary’s University of USports in Halifax, Nova Scotia. In July 2025, Bellamy joined the Maine Mariners. In just one season, Bellamy turned into one of Maine’s key pieces on defense, and his hard work paid off. Today, Bellamy re-signed with the Mariners for the 2026-27 ECHL season.
Bellamy, 25, is a native of Hampton, New Brunswick. As a rookie in the ECHL during the 2025-26 season, Bellamy stood out on Maine’s roster. Bellamy played in 71 of the Mariners’ 72 games in the regular season. Bellamy recorded 19 points and a +23 rating. Bellamy’s 15 assists were tied for the most on the Mariners’ roster. Bellamy’s +23 rating was the highest among the entire roster, an impressive feat for a rookie.
Bellamy also played in 12 of the Mariners’ 14 games during the 2026 Kelly Cup Playoffs, recording two assists. One of Bellamy’s top moments as a rookie was when he got into a fight 1:31 into Game 5 of the Mariners’ North Division Final series against Wheeling Nailers forward Matthew Quercia, taking him down to the ice.
Bellamy quickly turned into one of the Mariners’ top defensive players last season. With a strong rookie season, higher expectations will be on Bellamy for this upcoming season.
