Per Providence Journal’s Bruins Beat Writer Mark Divver, former Providence Bruins defenseman Sena Acolatse has signed a deal to play overseas in the German League with the Straubing Tigers. In 30 games played for Providence in the 2017-18 regular season, the 5′-11″ 180-pound blueliner had one goal and seven assists offensively, and as the clubs, gritty resident tough-guy amassed 90 penalty minutes.

The 27-year-old Acolatse Hayward, California native, played his whole professional hockey career in the American Hockey League spending parts of his career with the Adirondack Flames, Portland Pirates, Providence Bruins, Springfield Thunderbirds, and Worcester Sharks. In his seven-year AHL career, he contributed 38-84-122 numbers in 355 games. Per Erik Piri at, Acolatse is a defenseman who plays a pretty well-rounded game. Defensively, he is a punishing hitter who opponents need to watch out for. On offense, he owns decent hands and a good shot.

Acolatse is a dual citizen of Canada and the United States and came to the Providence Bruins organization in early October of 2017 on a Professional Tryout Agreement after posting career numbers (6-17-23 + 147 PIM’s) with his Springfield team the year before. The Providence organization then signed him to a one-year AHL contract in February of this year, but obviously, the top minor-pro affiliate of the Boston Bruins had no interest in bringing his services back for another season.
