Providence Bruins defenseman Frederic Brunet capped off an outstanding 2025-26 regular season by winning the prestigious Dunkin’ Best Defenseman Award. The honor recognizes Brunet’s significant impact on both ends of the ice and his continued development as a key player in the American Hockey League and as a developmental asset within the Bruins organization.

A former fourth-round selection by the National Hockey League’s Boston Bruins in the 2022 Entry Draft, Brunet has steadily climbed the ranks in his three full seasons of professional hockey. Under the guidance of Providence Bruins head coach Ryan Mougenel and his staff, Brunet has earned increasing responsibilities, showcasing growth and reliability with each passing year.

In 183 career AHL games, Brunet has recorded an impressive 19 goals and 56 assists for 75 points. His 2025-26 campaign was his most productive to date, as he notched 12 goals and 24 assists for 36 points over 65 games, which is a career high across the board. His contributions on both sides of the puck, combined with his maturity and poise, have made him an invaluable part of Providence’s blue line and potentially in the future at the NHL level on Boston’s backend.

Brunet’s performance this season earned him league-wide recognition, as he was named a 2025-26 All-Star and selected to participate in this year’s AHL All-Star Classic, held at the BMO Center in Rockford, Illinois. All these amazing accolades and scouting reports are fueling speculation that he could make the Boston Bruins’ NHL roster out of training camp this fall. As he continues to impress with his steady improvement and leadership, Brunet’s future in the organization looks exceptionally bright.
