The ECHL Maine Mariners have made their first player signing of the offseason, announcing that defenseman Nick Anderson will return to the club for the 2026-27 season. Anderson joined the Mariners during the 2025-26 campaign after beginning the season with the Orlando Solar Bears and quickly became a dependable presence on Maine’s blue line.

In 32 regular-season games with the Mariners, he recorded four goals and 11 assists while providing steady play at both ends of the ice. His impact continued into the postseason, where he appeared in 13 of Maine’s 14 playoff games, contributing one goal and two assists as the Mariners advanced on their deepest playoff run in franchise history.

One of Anderson’s biggest moments in a Mariners uniform came during Game 7 of the North Division Semifinals against the Adirondack Thunder. With the game tied 1-1 late in the third period, Anderson scored the go-ahead goal that lifted Maine to take the lead and helped secure the first playoff series win in franchise history.

It was a defining moment in the Mariners’ memorable postseason run and one that instantly cemented Anderson’s place in team history. His timely goal not only sent Maine to the North Division Finals but also gave Mariners fans one of the most unforgettable moments the franchise has ever experienced.

Nick Anderson’s return gives head coach Rick Kowalsky a dependable presence on the blue line heading into the 2026-27 season. Throughout last year, Anderson proved he could be counted on in all situations, logging important minutes at even strength while also earning time on the power play. His versatility, steady defensive play, and ability to contribute offensively made him one of Maine’s most trusted defensemen, and his return provides the Mariners with an important piece as they continue building next season’s roster.
