BOSTON — In a landmark announcement for one of the National Hockey League’s most storied franchises, the Boston Bruins have officially named forward David Pastrnak as the team’s 28th captain. The decision was confirmed today by the organization on its social media accounts, heralding a new era of leadership on Causeway Street.
Pastrnak, 30, becomes the first Czech native to wear the “C” for the Bruins. Since being drafted by Boston in 2014, Pastrnak has become one of the league’s most electrifying talents and a cornerstone of the franchise. Over his 13-year career, he has played in 833 games, amassing 420 goals and 513 assists for a remarkable 933 points — all in a Bruins sweater.
Pastrnak takes the reins from Brad Marchand, who served as captain from 2023 to 2025. The captaincy is a torch passed through generations of Bruins legends, with previous captains including:
