The Maine Mariners began September by signing forward Jack Works and re-signing defenseman Xavier Henry. Now, news for the Mariners’ 2026-27 ECHL season has arrived. Today, the Mariners will continue their exhibition series against the Worcester Railers in a home-and-home series.
On Oct. 9, the Mariners will host the Railers at the University of New England at Harold Alfond Forum in Biddeford, Maine. On Oct. 10, the Mariners will hit the road for the conclusion of the home-and-home series and will play at Worcester Ice Center in Worcester, Massachusetts. Both games are scheduled to start at 7 p.m. ET. Tickets for the Oct. 9 game in Maine are free and can be claimed in advance via FEVO, with a suggested donation to the Maine Mariners Foundation.
Since 2018, the Mariners and Railers have met every year in preseason. Last year, the Mariners beat the Railers 3-2 at Harold Alfond Forum. This year’s exhibition series is the sixth season of the VIP Rivalry Cup, presented by VIP Tires and Services. The Mariners won nine of the 14 matchups last season and won the Cup for the second consecutive year. The Mariners have won three of the five Cups since the Rivalry Cup was established in 2021.
Along with playing the Railers this year in preseason, the Mariners will also begin the 2026-27 regular season against the Railers on Oct. 17 at DCU Center at 6:05 p.m. ET. Then, the Mariners will host the Railers on Oct. 24 and Oct. 25 at Cross Insurance Arena for their first two home games of the season. The first three games of the regular season for the Mariners are against the Railers.
