The Boston Bruins have reportedly loaned goaltending prospect Dan Vladar to HC Dynamo Pardubice of the Czech Extraliga, according to the team’s website and as first reported by Mark Divver. Vladar becomes the latest prospect to be loaned overseas as teams wait for a return to play for both the NHL and AHL.
Earlier this week, defensemen Urho Vaakanainen and Cooper Zech were loaned overseas as well. Boston and Providence already had a number of prospects playing in Europe prior to this week’s moves, including Victor Berglund, Robert Lantosi, Joona Koopanen, Oskar Steen, Nick Wolff, Jakub Lauko and Jakub Zboril.
Earlier this offseason, Vladar and the Bruins agreed to a three-year extension with an annual cap hit of $750,000. The deal is a two-way contract for the first two seasons, with the third being a one-way contract.
In 25 contests last season for the Providence Bruins, Boston’s AHL affiliate, Vladar posted a 1.79 goals-against average and a .936 save percentage, both of which were tops in the league. The 23-year-old also recorded a 14-7-1 record with three shutouts.
Originally drafted in the third round (75th overall) by Boston in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft, Vladar has a 33-22-7 record along with six shutouts in 68 appearances with the P-Bruins over four seasons. In that span, the Prague native boasts a 2.35 GAA and .916 save percentage.
Vladar made his NHL debut in relief of Bruins goaltender Jaroslav Halak during the 2020 Stanley Cup Playoffs, giving up three goals on 15 shots as the Bruins were pummeled 7-1 at the hands of the eventual champion Tampa Bay Lightning. In one playoff appearance in Providence, the 6-foot-5, 185-pound netminder made 25 saves on 27 shots and earned a win.
