Maine Mariners veteran goaltender Brad Arvanitis has signed a deal to join the Guildford Flames of the United Kingdom’s Elite Ice Hockey League, bringing an end to what has been an impressive three-year run in Maine. Throughout his time with the Mariners, Arvanitis established himself as a reliable and steady presence between the pipes, consistently answering the call whenever his team needed him. While Brad often found himself as the second goaltender on the roster, he approached every opportunity with the preparation, confidence, and competitiveness of a true number-one netminder.

His impact went beyond the crease, as Arvanitis became a respected teammate and a trusted piece of the Mariners’ locker room. Whether stepping in during crucial moments of the season or providing stability behind the team’s starter, he proved that his value was measured by much more than his role on the depth chart. Each home game, during the announcement of the starting lineup, fans would cheer the loudest and hold up a single finger the moment Brad Arvanitis was shouted over the speakers.

Brad Arvanitis began his ECHL career during the 2021-22 season with the Rapid City Rush, where he made an immediate impact in limited action. Appearing in five games, Arvanitis posted a 3-1-1 record along with an impressive .922 save percentage.

The following season saw Arvanitis continue to build his professional experience, splitting time between the Rapid City Rush, Tulsa Oilers, Wichita Thunder, and the SPHL’s Pensacola Ice Flyers. After gaining valuable experience across multiple organizations, Arvanitis signed with the Maine Mariners for the 2023-24 season, entering a crowded goaltending room that featured Francois Brassard, Kyle Keyser, and Shane Starrett.

Despite the competition for playing time, Arvanitis quickly proved he belonged. In his first season with Maine, he emerged as one of the team’s most reliable goaltenders, appearing in 35 games while posting a 2.71 goals-against average, a .920 save percentage, and a 20-10-3 record. His strong play continued into the postseason, where he became a key part of Maine’s playoff run, appearing in six games while recording a 1.69 goals-against average, a .939 save percentage, and a 3-3 record.

The 2024-25 season saw Arvanitis return to Maine, but once again, he found himself competing in a crowded goaltending room. The Mariners entered the season with Nolan Maier and Ryan Bischel, both of whom had been assigned to Maine from the Providence Bruins, making Arvanitis the third option and placing him on reserve to begin the year.

However, much like the season before, Arvanitis refused to let his role define him. When given the opportunity, he continued to prove his ability and showed why he was such a valuable piece of the Mariners’ roster. In 23 appearances, Arvanitis recorded an 11-9-2 record while posting a 2.97 goals-against average and a .899 save percentage. Despite facing competition at every step, Arvanitis consistently delivered when his number was called, becoming a dependable option the Mariners could trust throughout the season.

The 2025-26 season would become one that both Brad Arvanitis and Mariners fans would remember for years to come. Arvanitis returned to Maine alongside new goaltender Luke Cavallin, who was coming off an incredible season with the Trois-Rivières Lions, where he helped lead the team to a Kelly Cup championship and was named playoff MVP.

The pairing of Cavallin and Arvanitis quickly became one of the strongest goaltending tandems in the league. Both netminders provided the Mariners with consistency, confidence, and stability throughout the season, giving Maine one of the most reliable duos between the pipes.

During the season, Arvanitis reached a historic milestone, earning his 33rd career win with the Mariners and becoming the winningest goaltender in franchise history. In 38 appearances, Brad posted a 22-11-4 record along with a 2.17 goals-against average and a .929 save percentage, continuing what was arguably the best season of his Mariners career. Arvanitis carried that success into the postseason as well, recording a 2-0-2 record while once again proving that when the moment arrived, he was ready to answer the call for Maine.

After three seasons in a Maine Mariners uniform, Brad Arvanitis leaves behind a legacy that goes far beyond the numbers. He became the winningest goaltender in franchise history, a trusted teammate, and a player who consistently stepped up whenever Maine needed him most. Despite often entering seasons behind others on the depth chart, Arvanitis never allowed his role to define him, proving time and time again that he belonged among the best.

As he begins the next chapter of his career with the Guildford Flames, Mariners fans will remember Brad not just for the saves, the victories, or the records, but for the heart and competitiveness he brought every night. His three-year journey in Maine will stand as one of the most memorable goaltending runs in franchise history, and his impact on the organization will not be forgotten.
